The event opened at 12:00 with a procession of floats that travelled down Ramsay road, through the centre of town and on to Warners Park where the Carnival was held. The procession was lead by the Carnival Princess. Following behind the Carnival Princess were the Majorettes, here seen as the procession passes through the main town square. |

It consisted of a number of floats, constructed by local groups such as the Scouts, playgroups, schools, clubs etc. These "Red Indians" were collecting donations towards the St Ives Millennium fund. This cheerful old man with the toothy smile added character to the procession. Finally everyone ended up at Warner's Park. |

Noddy and Big Ears were present too, in their toyland car. The rest of the day saw all sorts of activities in the events arena, with a mini-fun-fair and lots of white elephant, games and food stalls around the park. This Penny Farthing bicycle was also part of the procession, but here it is seen in the park in front of the events arena. |

Sunday 17th was a day for music in the park. It was an opportunity for local bands to come and play to friendly crowds. A competition for local youth bands was held. It is rumoured that the winning prize was awarded according the the amount of applause the bands were given, and hence the one with the most supporters won. ;-) Sour grapes? Maybe. :-/ |

Certainly, given the fine hot weather, this was an ideal opportunity to relax on the grass, drink beer, and chat to friends. |
